SAFM radio personality, Richard Nwamba, well-known across the continent for his expertise on the music of Africa and its Diaspora, will be in Port Elizabeth on May 4 to share his insights about “African music’s response to African politics”.
SAFM radio personality Richard Nwamba will be delivering a talk on “African music’s response to African politics” at NMMU.
Nwamba, 57, a trained English and History teacher, presents SAFM’s “The African Connection with Richard Nwamba” on Saturdays from 1pm to 3pm, one of the country’s most enduring shows.
The award-winning playwright, musician, actor and broadcaster often contributes his views on African music for the BBC, and has in the past contributed articles for the UK’s premier world music magazine, Songlines.
He regularly writes on African music for Sawubona and Islander, the in-flight magazines for South African Airways and Air Mauritius, respectively.
Nwamba’s talk – which is part of the NMMU Faculty of Arts’ “Decolonisation in the Global South” series – takes place in the South Campus Auditorium from 4pm to 5.30pm.
