NMMU News

31/10/2016

The implementation of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University’s (NMMU) Academic completion programme for 2016 continues in earnest.  Students are continuing to receive Faculty-specific plans and guidelines as well as related support material.

NMMU is resolute in its commitment to conclude this academic year, with the multi-layered academic completion strategy.

SAFETY ON OUR CAMPUSES

As the university remains open and staff are working to support the implementation of the academic completion plans, we are mindful of the importance of safety and security in our campuses.  To this end, the university continues to work with other law enforcement agencies.

Unfortunately, during lunchtime today, a small group that appeared to be students, stoned some vehicles that were parked outside the Administration building at North Campus.  Police reacted swiftly and investigations have commenced.  We are confident that those involved in this criminal activity will be identified and apprehended.  In addition, an incidence of disruption was reported at the Bird Street Campus.

NMMU condemns these acts of criminality in the strongest terms.

The University is fully aware of the anxiety resulting from the interruptions to its normal functioning.  We hereby call for continued resilience and patience during this period.
