NMMU News

09/02/2017

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) is gravely concerned by the large number of NSFAS-funded students who have not yet signed their 2016 contracts.

Despite numerous communication and telephonic reminders to the students from last year until now, hundreds of 2016 loan agreement forms remain unsigned.

Students who do not sign their loan agreement forms run the risk of:

  • Having their 2016 NSFAS funding revoked;
  • Having their 2017 NSFAS funding withdrawn

Failure to sign the forms would then mean that students will be liable to pay their 2016 debt and incur the direct cost of their 2017 studies.

While the University continues to try assist as many students as possible to access funding for their studies, it is the students’ responsibility to play an active part in ensuring that they do what is necessary to secure their funding.

We therefore call on all students who have not yet signed the loan agreement contract to urgently do so by clicking on the applicable box on the online form that can be accessed via the NSFAS website on http://www.nsfas.org.za/content/signyourlafsop.html.

If students encounter problems signing the form online, they should go to the Financial Aid offices to do so.
